Lemon squeezy

I went to the store for 3 lemons, and came home with 15.  Turns out buying an entire bag is waaaay cheaper than buying just three.  So this week I'm attempting to plow through 12 extra lemons.  Luckily, I came across a few awesome recipes. I originally bought the lemons so I could make some lemon bars (amazing recipe from my sister's mother-in-law), then ended up making some salted preserved lemons as well.

I got the idea over at Marisa's blog, Food in Jars, and here I am...preserving lemons with salt. I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly skeptical but hopefully optimistic.

I'm very excited to see how they taste added to an old obsession: grain salads.  I think it will pack the perfect punch to said salads. I just have to wait 3 more weeks until they are ready for consumption!

In other news, I had a glorious time with my family while they were in town. We went to Disneyland, play Euchre, ate delicious food, and just plain ol' hung out with one another. It was magnificent. I love my family.

Now, back to the grind.

Quick hello

Hi blogland! Sorry I have been absent as of late.  Life is pretty chaotic at the moment.  I'm sure it will die down soon, but until then, I will be taking a short break from blogging (just a week).  My family gets in tonight (woooo!!!) and I will get back on the bloggin' bandwagon once they head out of town. Just wanted to fill you in as to why I haven't been posting. :)

I hope life is treating you well!

Baby blanket complete!

Well, it took me 9 months, but I finally finished the baby blanket for my new niece that I started last Spring. It was one of those projects that I put down to take a short break from, then boom! 6 months goes by without touching it. So 2 weeks ago it was my new mission to get it finished by yesterday, when Ryan and I had plans to babysit Hannah and Noah.

I worked up until the last minute until I had to leave, but I finished it!

When I gave it to Hannah, she gave me the look you see below, which I can only imagine she is thinking, "You really finished it?!?"

She then had to check my craftsmanship.

Hannah-approved, phew!

In other news, until Ryan and I can build the base for our new-old suitcase, we are improvising without one.  I had to use a little ingenuity to make the lamp sit higher, but it will work for now!

Happy Superbowl Sunday to all you football fans out there! I, for one, particularly enjoy all the Superbowl snacks!
